This Natural and unique water slide and pool makes this place a tourist spot in Abel Tasman Golden Bay. Tourist have to walk 1 hour and 45 minutes from Torrent Bay to this beautiful natural made water slide and pool named “Cleopatra Pool”. While walking the trail around the mountain going to this pool you can see the over looking beautiful different bays of Abel Tasman. Some has a trail going down to closely check the bay. When you almost reach Cleopatra’s pool you will walk beside a river with a very clear water and yellowish stones and you will walk under thick bush of ferns and small trees.

Cleopatra’s pool has a short water fall where next to it is a big rock water slide covered with moss that makes pain free to the slider. Cleopatra’s pool can also be access through Kayak during high tide and walk about 10 minutes to the site. Summer season is the best time to visit Cleopatra’s pool so that you can enjoy the water and lay in the big rocks for sun bathing.

Along the way to Cleopatra’s pool you can see bushy ferns and very clear water with yellowish stone. Me and Karl walked maybe 2 hours from Torrent Bay to this beautiful nature’s made scenic spot. And we can’t help ourselves but to took photos of the very clear water in the river. Too unlucky for Karl because he left the SD card of his DSLR camera. He wasn’t able to took photos of the very beautiful Abel Tasman Bays and Cleopatra’s pool. This place is really good summer destination for tourist and locals in New Zealand. There are plenty of camping areas in Abel Tasman. One that we were stayed for 2 days is in Old MacDonalds Farm. Along the way going home(Cleopatra Pool to Marahau 4 hours and 45 minutes) we noticed some camping grounds for FREE. Most young and outdoor people camp in those sites. The only way to reach the camping site is by walking. So you need to carry all your gears (tent, food, clothes water and etc.) this just advisable if you are physically fit to do long walks.

The Rock water slide at Cleopatra Pool

When you visit Cleopatra’s pool you should not miss sliding this natural made water slide. The slide is not too long but surely you will enjoy and have a big smile when sliding and feeling refresh from the long walks when you get down at the end of the slide and soak in the fresh water.

When you arrive at Cleopatra’s pool you cannot see immediately the pool. You have to get down to the river and walk 2 meters then you can see closely the big rocks, the pool, falls and the water slide. I had a good area positioning myself to capture this big rock water slide. And I was praying that there would be someone to slide so that can capture photos. And a few minutes a cute little boy goes for a slide then few minutes a white woman happily slide and next is her partner slides with excitement. Mission completed! 🙂 I got good photos!
